Description

EcoSilk is an odorless vegetable-based emollient that is 100% biodegradable, made from renewable natural sources such as sugar and coconut. It possesses unsurpassed unique and amazing qualities. it is a great natural alternative to silicone, it gives your creams, oils, and butters a silky, elegant feel, and increases spread-ability. It dramatically improves the textures of creams and butters that have been made with high amounts of vegetable oils, butters and waxes by making them feel lighter and more elegant to the touch.

Ecosilk also reduces the ‘whitening’ effect these creams have on the skin, and improves the spread-ability of oils, making them lighter and less greasy. It is ideal for use in sunscreen formulations as it helps to disperse the inherent powders (i.e. titanium dioxide) by helping the cream spread further, making it feel light and comfortable on the skin, reducing tackiness. It also reduces the whitening effect of the SPF.

soamyl laurate is a non-oily, silky, non-greasy emollient that can be used in a variety of skincare, color cosmetic, and hair care applications. It comes from plants and is typically made from coconut or beetroot. It is a naturally occurring, oily liquid that is colorless to yellowish and has received Ecocert approval. It is regarded as a natural silicone substitute.
It has a molecular weight of 270.5 and its chemical formula is C17H34O2.

We are now supplying EcoSilk MB instead of EcoSilk. EcoSilk MB is exactly the same product as EcoSilk so won’t make any different to your formulations, however, EcoSilk MB is COSMOS approved which is why we decided to offer this version. Our other EcoSilk is no longer approved for new COSMOS formulations. The MB in EcoSilk MB stands for Mass Balance meaning that the Palm Oil used in the production of EcoSilk MB comes from a CSPO (Certified Sustainable Palm Oil) supply chain which is now mandatory for COSMOS approved ingredients and products.
The INCI for EcoSilk MB is just Isoamyl Laurate which represents the full nature and composition of the material as Isoamyl alcohol (from sugar cane, sugar beet, wheat, barley) and Lauric acid (from sustainable Palm oil) go through an esterification process to produce Isoamyl Laurate.
